Before your visit

A well-prepared examination saves time and makes the right decision easier. This page explains what you should have with you, from booking an appointment to the day of your examination.

Appointments and Contact

How do I book an appointment?

Appointments are booked through MHRS (Türkiye's national hospital appointment system): the MHRS mobile app, the website mhrs.gov.tr, or the telephone line 182. Choose Tatvan State Hospital as the hospital and Cardiac and Vascular Surgery as the department. Details are on the Appointments and Contact page.

Your old reports are your most valuable test.

Bring with you

  1. IDYour national ID card or identity card.
  2. Medication listThe name and dose of every medicine you take. A photo of the boxes is also enough. If you take a blood thinner, be sure to mention it.
  3. Previous testsPrevious Doppler ultrasound, CT or angiography reports, and any image CDs. Operation records and discharge summaries from another hospital.
  4. Blood testsIf you have diabetes or kidney disease, your latest test results.
  5. Your complaintWhen your complaint started, which leg it affects, and what makes it worse. A short note makes the examination easier.

On the day of your examination

So that your legs can be examined comfortably, wear loose-fitting trousers or a skirt. If you use compression stockings, bring them with you. During the examination, the veins and arteries are assessed with Doppler ultrasound if needed.

Do not stop your medicines yourself before the examination, especially blood thinners. If a procedure is planned, you will be told separately which medicine to stop and when.

Situations that require immediate care, without waiting

Sudden swelling and pain in one leg, sudden shortness of breath or chest pain, and a cold, pale or dark purple foot are not conditions to wait for a booked appointment. In these cases, call 112 or go to the nearest emergency department.
